Summer Fuel

Sometimes I make wraps at home.  They are pretty tasty.  And on hot summer days, my blueberry lemonade is refreshing.  The mint came from my garden!

Chicken & Cabbage

I tried my best to do a Thai marinade like in this video.  The side dish is a stir-fried cabbage with oyster sauce.  And I also prepared some rice.

Cream, Get On Top

a corn and coconut dessert

Cream
Get on top

Cream
Don't you stop
Cream
Sh-boogie bop

Click here for a recipe that's close to what I did.  I didn't use tapioca.  I added some grated coconut.  And that little green item on top?  Well, that's a piece of a pandan leaf.

Mama Noodle Soup

Sometimes the best noodles are instant ones.  The key is adding the ingredients to make it gourmet.  As you can see, I add some veggies, an egg, some ground pork and a couple other Asian favorites:  kimchi and dried seaweed.  This noodle bowl I made, basically, has a lot of Thailand, and a bit of South Korea and Japan.  To learn more about the noodle brand Mama, and what a fixture it is in Thailand and elsewhere, click here.

Sweet Tooth

I grew up eating these desserts  There are lots of of varieties, but the most common rotis in Thailand would be Banana, Sweetened Condensed Milk, and Chocolate.  Of course, you can put all these ingredients into one!  The ones I did recently were Sweetened Condensed Milk and Nutella with Sweetened Condensed Milk.   You can also make them with honey or jam.  I do the shortcut version.  Click here for the secret.

Sliced Pork with Sticky Rice

I also made that dipping sauce.
Ingredients:  garlic, shallots, lime juice, palm sugar, chili, fish sauce, cilantro and soy sauce.

Pork and sticky rice is a very common dish in Thailand, and often it's one of several delicious foods shared at a table among friends.  And one of my favorite spots to get it is at beer gardens in Bangkok during the cool season, from November - February.  The pork you'd get there is grilled.  This one I made is an oven-roasted version.
